WASHINGTON D.C., September 1, 2020 – Medicomp Systems, the leading provider of clinician-driven, point-of-care solutions that fix EHRs, announced today an update to Quippe Clinical Documentation to support new Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) documentation guidelines effective January 1, 2021. For the calendar year (CY) 2021, CMS is implementing updated documentation policies to reduce administrative burdens and provide flexibility in how practitioners document evaluation and management (E/M) visit levels.

For CY 2021, clinicians have the option to document E/M office visits using medical decision-making or time or, to continue applying the current 1995 or 1997 E/M documentation guidelines. CMS authorized this policy change to give practitioners greater flexibility to exercise clinical judgment in documentation so they can focus on what is clinically relevant and medically necessary for the beneficiary.

Quippe Clinical Documentation utilizes AI-based clinically intelligent documentation tools, powered by Medicomp’s MEDCIN engine. With this latest version, documentation is verified in real time, prompting physicians to immediately address any treatment gaps while patients are still in the exam room. Users are assured that documentation supports medical decision-making and coding requirements and is aligned with the actual care delivered.

“Using our latest Quippe Clinical Documentation solution, clinicians spend less time documenting extraneous details that don’t improve the delivery of patient care,” said David Lareau, Medicomp CEO. “Instead, physicians only need to document relevant details that improve the overall quality of documentation, while also validating information for billing and coding purposes. Medicomp is proud to honor the vision of our founder Peter Goltra by continuing to update our products and deliver easy-to-use technologies that empower clinicians and advance the delivery of patient care.”

Medicomp’s Quippe solutions are designed to improve the usability of healthcare providers’ existing EHRs. Quippe Clinical Documentation includes point-of-care decision support tools that facilitate the efficient capture and use of clinical data for regulatory programs, streamlining workflows, and enabling more time for patient care.
